Is this fair in the slightest?

My dad worked for a convention center for like 5 years (it was on a native reserve) and they brought him in because he had a good reputation and hoped he would fix the problems because it was losing so much money. He turned it around and they let go people like the chef who wasn't good for the restaurant which it has and got one who knew how to make a good menu and bring people in and the council of the reserve hired a guy who stole 11,000 dollars!! Then they called him in today and told him that since it was turned around and they can hire a native so they let fired him!! It was because of the fact he wasn't native! Is that fair? I find they didn't appreciate what he did for them!
