How do I get my 1 1/2 year old puppy to behave?!!?

My puppy who was born on october 31, 2009 (1 1/2 years old) is not behaving what so ever! Iget really annoyed. I do not know what to do. He bites my kids (14 and 18 years) and runs around and breaks and chews things up. He seems like he doesnt understant no, or doesnt care. I dont know how to punish him. I tried getting a bone for him to chew on, it worked for a couple days. He has bones and gets attention. However, he is alone from 8:15-10:15 and 11:00-3:00 Mon-Fri. He gets bones and toys to chew on while were gone, but he gets locked in the kitchen. What do I do?!!?!!!!
