Is there any other white powdery substance besides cocaine that would cause numbness of your tongue?

I found a white powder like substance on my kitchen counter and when I dotted it on my tongue, my tongue felt tingly and numb. When I asked my roommate about it, she said it may be a piece of a xanax pill she cut up earlier. She denied it was coke. Could it be xanax, or am I in denial?
