What is the differences in butters.?

When i shop in the market,I notice that there are many prices on butters. Is'nt butter just butter? I wish to solve this question because I am about to launch on a surprise birthday cake that requires butter and I wish to have the best possible flavor. By the way I know unsalted butter is more expensive but not much flavor. Any chefs out there?
