If I ran a non-profit food shelf/soup kitchen, how would I pay my bills?

Do I get any money, or would I need a second job to help pay my bills? I really want to make a soup kitchen to help others and feed the needy, but I just want to make sure I can put food on my own table and have a home to live in. I don't need tons of money I just want the bare essentials. Can I do this?
