When tiling my bathroom floor around the toilet, do I remove the old wax ring first and then tile?

LuLuBell, Yes. Take the old bowl wax (wax ring) off first and throw it away. It's garbage now. You can use a scrapper to help you get it all off & out. When you reset your toilet again, you will have to put a new one on. You can tile all the way up to and around the outside diameter of the, "closet flange" that the toilet bolts too. You don't have to be really precise. Just don't tile over the metal or plastic flange that the toilet bolts to. Then, after you finish the tile work, then put in you new bowl wax on just before you go to reset the toilet. OK? Good luck!
